I do have a few 'sticking points' I like to keep consistent among all my commissions. (These are in order from most to least important. For the most part.)
- BLUE eyes. Not green, not red, not yellow, but BLUE eyes. Awesomely seductive beautiful BLUE eyes. :)
- 'Natural' looking tiger striping. Look up tiger pictures on google to see what I'm talking about. So instead of doing evenly spaced stripes or 'triangles', more random looking striping. On a tiger, there is a dark line that goes down the spine, and the stripes 'radiate' around the body from there, around the sides to the front. On Rowr the stripes fade as they wrap around.
- On the coloration, Rowr is not quite orange and not quite yellow, she's a little inbetween. Ochre yellow if you will (a Calvin and Hobbes reference, I actually don't know what color ochre yellow is). Use your artistic license and the examples as a sort of guide. Just remember the BLUE eyes. Her hair can be a few shades lighter than the fur color, a blondish color, though others have given her hair a dirty blond or dirty red look.
Also, for the 'fade to white' area, the white is on her belly, running up and down onto her chin and face a little, and down the insides of her arms and legs. Take note of this! You can get away with a sharp contrast between the orange/yellow fur and the white fur, but I do prefer a more gradual fade (YES Just like on real tigers!)
- Rowr wears a snow blue and white snowflake anklet around her left ankle. The snowflake and chain design can be anything really, I'm not too particular, but something small and unobtrusive, but it's gotta be there. It was a present from a very dear friend and she does treasure it.
- For clothing, you can draw Rowr with or without clothes. Her 'normal' outfit is a simple black T-shirt and shorts with deep orange highlights (as in the screenie above). Sometimes she will put on the spikey boots and gloves to give her a more 'threatening' look to the bad guys, though there are small claw holes so her claws can still come out. :)
- For facial style, depending on your preference, you can do a more human looking face, or you can do a more feline looking face. I do tend to lean towards a more human looking face, with cat-like features. Cute little cat nose etc :)
- For her ears, they are on the top of her head, and NO human ears on the sides. Cover up that area with hair! (yes that generally means Rowr can never pull her hair back into a pony tail, a look I think she might favor). The ears are slightly rounded, but they are NOT sharply pointed, nor are they carebear round. The example below on the right is about the right mix.
- Oh yeah, one last thing. No collar. I know the ref pics below appear to have her in a collar or necklace of some kind, but she is really afraid of collars and what they mean, Rowr has vowed to never wear one. Buuuut sometimes her willpower is overwhelmed. :)
